Faculty Purchase Program
To ensure that aging computer systems remain compatible within the Faculty’s network environment the Faculty sponsors the Faculty Computer Purchase (Evergreen) Program. All Academic and all continuing support staff members whose most recently purchased computer (which has not been purchased from a research account) is five years old are eligible to participate in this program.
Equipment Inventory
EdTech Services maintains a database that tracks all technology related equipment that falls under the University of Alberta’s Equipment and Furnishings Asset Management Policy. The policy states that equipment and furnishings purchased from university funds (includes both unrestricted funds e.g. operating, and restricted funds e.g. research) are the property of the University unless otherwise stated by sponsor or donor terms and conditions. As a result, EdTech Services is required to tag and track equipment assets that are movable equipment with an acquisition value of $5,000 or greater or desirable equipment with an acquisition value less than $5,000 defined as necessary to tag and track.
Direct Sale of Equipment
The direct sale of equipment assets to departing (resigning or retiring) staff members is permitted provided these items were used exclusively by those staff members and were purchased from Professional Expense Reimbursement (PER) or unit operating funds.

Off Campus Use of Equipment
Any equipment that is to be taken off campus requires an Off Campus form for insurance purposes.
Building Access
Staff needing after-hours access to the Education Buildings are required to fill out a Building Access form. Once departmental approval has been received access will be granted.
Staff Exit Procedures
All Academic/support staff exits are to be reported to EdTech Services so that appropriate action can be taken in regards to Network Access, computer back up, and equipment inventory.
