The EdTech Learning Commons provides an ideal learning environment for students, faculty, instructors and staff in the Faculty of Education to develop their critical digital literacies in the areas of teaching, learning, research and administration.

We believe in discovery learning and, thanks to the variety of technology tools and services available, the ELC provides an excellent environment for this to happen.

The ELC is equipped with:

  • Individual workstations with desktop computers running both MAC OS and Windows and loaded with useful software
  • A large, open work area with movable tables and comfortable chairs
  • Collaborative work spaces equipped with large LCD displays that can be connected to multiple laptops
  • Break-out rooms for small groups
  • Interactive white boards (SMART boards) and student response systems (iClicker)
  • scanners, a printer, a laminator and a coil binder.

The ELC is staffed by:

  • EdTech Mentors, technically savvy graduate and undergraduate Education students, who provide just-in-time tutoring on educational software and help you with technical issues that come up while you work on your project. EdTech Mentors may also wok with instructors and their students to develop and deliver customized resources and support for course assignments or technology–related activities.
  • An EdTech Services staff person who is ready to assist you with our services and to provide troubleshooting for problems with any of the technology in the ELC.
